John Jota Leaños is a Mestizo (Mexican-Italian-Chumash) interdisciplinary artist, documentary animator and social art practitioner concerned with the embattled terrains of history and memory as they relate to nation, power and social justice. Jon holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley, a Masters in Anthropology from Portland State University, a Masters in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a Bachelors in Journalism from the University of Nebraska.
