Travis McEwen has an MFA in Studio Arts from Concordia University, Montreal, QC, Canada. He has shown work throughout Canada and the United States in group and solo exhibitions. He has work in the Senvest Collection of Contemporary Canadian Art and most recently was featured in New American Paintings #167. He was a Lecturer of Painting and Drawing in the Art Department at the University of Minnesota from 2015 to 2023 and now a Lecturer of Painting and Drawing in the Art Department at University of California, Santa Cruz.
Areas of expertise include painting and drawing with an emphasis in figuration, and collage based practices.
Research intersts include figuration in contemporary and historical art, queer theory and ecology, and botany and horticulture.
