Hola a todos! Hello everyone!

My name is Jessica Alejandra Parra Moya and I am a UCSC Alumna, Class of 2019. I came to UCSC as a transfer, first generation, and undocumented student, who graduated as a double major in Literature and Feminist Studies with a minor in Legal Studies. I am fully fluent in Spanish (my native language), English, and have intermediate fluency in Brazilian Portuguese. I am proud of the nuances of the intersections that make me who I am.

After graduating, I joined the Rachel Carson College’s Programs Team as their Student Life Assistant (SLA) in October of 2019 until May 27, 2022. The almost three years that I worked as the SLA for Rachel Carson College honed my professional skills and understanding of Higher Education and the ever changing needs and challenges of students; as well as the needs and challenges of staff within a college unit.

During the complete lockdown between early 2020 until late 2021, I decided to go back to school and completed the ABA Accredited Paralegal Program which was a year long online program at CSU East Bay. I graduated from the program in December 2021. It was an opportunity to develop logistic skills that I have always been interested in.

Now, I am here as the College Scholars Program Coordinator and I plan on leaning into the skills I developed at Rachel Carson College and the ones I attained from the Paralegal Program at CSU East Bay; together with the knowledge and support of the team at CSP as I embark on this new journey in my professional life.

Some things I enjoy doing are learning new languages, learning about places through food, international cinema/television, and walks on the beach.
