Jason Eshraghian is an Assistant Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California Santa Cruz. He received the Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) and Bachelor of Law, and PhD in Electrical Engineering, all from the University of Western Australia. He then joined the University of Michigan as a Post-Doctoral Researcher between 2019 - 2022. Dr. Eshraghian is the developer of snnTorch, a widely used deep learning framework for training biologially inspired neural networks (downloaded >100,000 times). His research interests are in neuromorphic algorithm and accelerator design, where he seeks to draw principles from neuroscience to make computation more efficient.
He was awarded the 2023 IEEE Darlington Circuits and Systems Best Paper Award, 2019 IEEE TVLSI Best Paper Award, the 2019 IEEE AICAS Best Paper Award, and the 2020 IEEE ICECS Best Live Demonstration Award. He was also the recipient of the Fulbright Research Fellowship (Australian-American Fulbright Commission), the Forrest Research Fellowship (Forrest Research Foundation), and the Endeavour Fellowship (Australian Government). He currently serves as the secretary of the IEEE Neural Systems and Applications Committee and is an Associate Editor of APL Machine Learning.
