Biofuel production using reengineered extremophiles, especially halophiles
Next-generation sequencing applications including genome assembly, metagenome assembly and RNA transcriptomics
Extremozymes - viral / microbial gene discovery - RNA/RNA packing motors and porins
Single-molecule sequencing of highly structured/modified tRNA
Novel halo virus discovery
