Arshinder Pal Kaur is born and raised in Punjab, India and has been a Bay Area resident for past eighteen years. She obtained her M.A. & M. Phil degree in Punjabi Language from Punjabi University Patiala, Punjab, India. She has about thirty year experience of teaching Punjabi to various level students in India, Singapore and United states. She has been teaching a beginner level Intensive Punjabi course offered through Languages and Applied Linguistics Department, Division of Humanities of UCSC for past five years. Previously she taught Intermediate Punjabi class at San Jose state University as a volunteer Professor. She has been an active volunteer at Guru Nanak Khalsa School San Jose, a community run language school. There she is a part of the language curriculum team, a mentor in preparing students for Sikh history and Gurbani speeches, and teaching Punjabi. She has great passion for the Punjabi language and culture. She is an active member of San Jose Sikh Community and associated with various literary and cultural groups.
