As a former K-12 public school teacher from Northern California, Mila's scholarship bridges critical media literacy and teacher learning. In particular, her work focuses on how early-career educators make sense of, design, and enact justice-centered approaches to media education within today’s complex and rapidly evolving digital ecosystem. Drawing on social design–based and participatory research methods, she collaborates with teachers to co-design justice-centered media literacy pedagogies and learning environments that center collective care, critical inquiry, and social transformation.
