See my website for more about me.

Garaud is an expert in Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics and to a lesser extent, Geophysical Fluid Dynamics, which she studies using both analytical methods and computational methods.

My main research interests at the moment are:

  • Large-scale magnetohydrodynamics of the solar interior
  • Modeling large-scale flows in stellar interior
  • Modeling turbulent convection
  • Understanding the properties of double-diffusive convection, with applications to astrophysics
  • Modeling stratified shear flows in stars
  • Modeling the dynamics of dust particles in proto-stellar disks

I teach a number of classes in Applied Mathematics from the introductory undergraduate level to the advanced graduate level:

  • Precalculus: AM/MATH3
  • Calculus: MATH11A/AM15A/AM15B
  • Multivariate Calculus: AM30
  • Mathematical modeling: AM170A
  • Applied Mathematical Methods I: AM212A
  • Applied Mathematical Methods II: AM212B
  • Numerical Linear Algebra: AMS213A
  • Dynamical Systems: AM114/AM214
  • Advanced Fluid Mechanics: AM227

2019: Fellow of the American Physical Society (Division of Fluid Dynamics)

2010: NSF CAREER

2008: UCSC Excellence in teaching award.
